THB 1 million cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer Platinum: who is it for and how much does it cost?
In short: Chubb Samaggi Insurance's THB 1 million cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer Platinum, suits healthy Thai nationals aged 1–60 who want a lump sum to use during cancer treatment. It pays a lump sum of THB 700,000 / 1,000,000 / 1,500,000 when any type of cancer is diagnosed at any stage, and THB 100,000–150,000 for skin cancer, with no medical examination. Premiums start from THB 4,690 per year (as of 29 October 2026). The actual premium depends on your age and the plan you choose.
What does Cancer Platinum cover?
The plans fall into 3 groups: Huang Yai (caring), Sai Jai (attentive) and Hai Huang (worry-free). Each group has 3 sum insured levels (1 / 2 / 3).
| Benefits | Sum insured level 1 / 2 / 3 (THB) | Plans that include it |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer of all types and all stages (excluding skin cancer) | 700,000 / 1,000,000 / 1,500,000 | All groups |
| Skin cancer | 100,000 / 100,000 / 150,000 | All groups |
| Income compensation while in hospital with cancer | 2,500 at every level, up to 30 days | Sai Jai and Hai Huang |
| Extra payment for treatment with chemotherapy or radiotherapy (within 30 days) | 25,000 at every level | Hai Huang |
| Second diagnosis, within 30 days after the first diagnosis | Actual cost, up to 20,000 | Hai Huang |
Cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer Platinum: roughly how much is the premium?
Annual premium including stamp duty and VAT, from the June 2026 edition of the sales brochure
| Age (years) | Huang Yai 1 / 2 / 3 | Hai Huang 1 / 2 / 3 |
|---|---|---|
| 1–39 | 4,690 / 6,630 / 9,940 | 5,040 / 6,980 / 10,250 |
| 40–49 | 7,000 / 9,930 / 14,890 | 7,660 / 10,590 / 15,420 |
| 50–60 | 13,030 / 18,540 / 27,810 | 14,320 / 19,830 / 28,820 |
| 61–70 (renewals only) | 21,470 / 30,600 / 45,900 | 23,660 / 32,790 / 47,600 |
The Sai Jai group falls between these two groups. For example, at ages 1–39, Sai Jai 1 / 2 / 3 is THB 4,750 / 6,690 / 10,000; at ages 40–49, THB 7,220 / 10,150 / 15,110; at ages 50–60, THB 13,490 / 19,000 / 28,270.
Premiums rise with each age band. The actual premium depends on your age, the plan and the insurer's underwriting decision; the figure on your quote is the one that applies. The insurer's document states that the premium can be used as a tax deduction as set by the Revenue Department.
A worked example to illustrate
Age 35, sum insured THB 1,000,000
- Huang Yai 2: THB 6,630 per year (an average of about THB 553 per month, from 6,630 ÷ 12)
- Hai Huang 2: THB 6,980 per year, THB 350 per year more
Suppose a cancer other than skin cancer is diagnosed, with 10 days in hospital and chemotherapy treatment
| Item | Huang Yai 2 | Hai Huang 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Lump sum on diagnosis | 1,000,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Hospital stay compensation, 10 days × 2,500 | – | 25,000 |
| Extra payment for chemotherapy | – | 25,000 |
| Second diagnosis (actual cost) | – | Up to 20,000 |
| Maximum total | THB 1,000,000 | Up to THB 1,070,000 |
This is a hypothetical example to give you a picture. What is actually paid depends on the diagnosis and the insurer's assessment. A simple rule: choose your sum insured based on the expenses your health insurance does not pay, such as the income you would lose while off work, not on the full cost of treatment.
Who is Cancer Platinum for?
- Working people who already have health insurance and want a lump sum to replace income during cancer treatment
- People with a family history of cancer who have never been diagnosed themselves and are in good health
- People who want a cancer sum insured in the million-baht range without a medical examination before applying
- Parents who want to buy cancer insurance for their children from age 1
Who should not buy this plan yet?
- People who have ever been diagnosed with cancer: even if they have been successfully treated, they are not covered and do not meet the underwriting conditions
- People with hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis, chronic pneumonitis, chronic colitis or chronic cervicitis: the insurer's document lists these as examples of conditions that do not meet the underwriting conditions
- People whose cancer cover already totals close to THB 1,500,000: the combined cancer sum insured across all policies must not exceed THB 1,500,000 per person
- Foreign nationals: this plan accepts Thai nationals only
- People over 60: new applications are accepted up to age 60, and you can renew up to age 70
What limitations should you check before deciding?
- 90-day waiting period: if symptoms appear or a cancer-related abnormality is found within the first 90 days after the policy first takes effect, it is not covered
- Skin cancer pays a much lower sum: levels 1–2 pay THB 100,000, not THB 700,000–1,000,000
- The combined sum insured is capped at THB 1,500,000 per person, counting all cancer policies
- Cancers related to HIV/AIDS are not covered, including certain cancers found when symptoms of HIV, AIDS or ARC develop
- Cancer resulting from narcotic drugs or chronic alcoholism is not covered, nor is cancer resulting from complications of cosmetic surgery
- Premiums rise with age: at ages 50–60 they are almost 3 times those at ages 1–39, for example Huang Yai 1 goes from THB 4,690 to THB 13,030
- You must fill in the application form fully and truthfully: although no medical examination is needed, the insurer decides based on the information in the form

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a medical check-up before applying?
No medical examination is needed, but you must fill in the application form and answer the health questions fully and truthfully. The policy takes effect once the insurer approves it.
If I apply and cancer is found in the second month, will I be paid?
No, not if the symptoms or the finding occur within the 90-day waiting period, counted from the date the policy first takes effect.
I already have THB 500,000 of cancer insurance with another insurer. How much more can I buy?
The total sum insured across all policies must not exceed THB 1,500,000, so you can buy up to THB 1,000,000 more, for example level 2 of this plan.
I have hepatitis B but it is under control. Can I apply?
The insurer's document gives hepatitis B as an example of a condition that does not meet the underwriting conditions, so you should not apply for this plan, and you should always declare your history truthfully.
If I renew at age 61, how much more is the premium?
The 61–70 age band is a renewal rate only, for example Huang Yai 1 at THB 21,470 per year, up from THB 13,030 in the 50–60 age band.
