How much does cancer insurance with a premium in the low thousands pay, and how does it differ from a plan with a sum insured in the millions?
Affordable cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer: who is it for and how much does it cost?
In short: Chubb Samaggi Insurance's affordable cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer, suits healthy Thai nationals aged 1–54 who want to start cancer cover on a budget in the low thousands of baht. It pays a lump sum of THB 200,000 / 300,000 / 500,000 when any type of cancer is diagnosed at any stage, and THB 40,000–100,000 for skin cancer, with no medical examination. Premiums start from THB 1,200 per year (as of 29 October 2026). The actual premium depends on your age and the plan you choose.
What does Chubb Cancer cover?
The plans fall into 3 groups: Un Jai (peace of mind), Khum Kha (good value) and Khrop Khlum (comprehensive). Each group has 3 sum insured levels (1 / 2 / 3).
| Benefits | Sum insured level 1 / 2 / 3 (THB) | Plans that include it |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer of all types and all stages (excluding skin cancer) | 200,000 / 300,000 / 500,000 | All groups |
| Skin cancer | 40,000 / 60,000 / 100,000 | All groups |
| Extra payment for treatment with chemotherapy or radiotherapy (within 30 days) | 10,000 / 15,000 / 25,000 | Khum Kha and Khrop Khlum |
| Income compensation while in hospital with cancer | 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,500, up to 30 days | Khrop Khlum |
| Second diagnosis, within 30 days after the first diagnosis | Actual cost, up to 10,000 / 15,000 / 25,000 | Khrop Khlum |
Cancer insurance, Chubb Cancer: roughly how much is the premium?
Annual premium including stamp duty and VAT, from the June 2026 edition of the sales brochure
| Age (years) | Un Jai 1 / 2 / 3 | Khrop Khlum 1 / 2 / 3 |
|---|---|---|
| 1–39 | 1,200 / 1,800 / 3,000 | 1,300 / 1,900 / 3,200 |
| 40–44 | 1,700 / 2,500 / 4,200 | 1,800 / 2,800 / 4,600 |
| 50–54 | 3,100 / 4,600 / 7,700 | 3,500 / 5,200 / 8,800 |
The Khum Kha group falls between these two groups. For example, at ages 1–39, Khum Kha 1 / 2 / 3 is THB 1,250 / 1,850 / 3,100; at ages 50–54, THB 3,250 / 4,850 / 8,100. If you are aged 45–49, you can ask our team directly for a premium quote.
Premiums rise with each age band. The actual premium depends on your age, the plan and the insurer's underwriting decision; the figure on your quote is the one that applies. The insurer's document states that the premium can be used as a tax deduction as set by the Revenue Department.
A worked example to illustrate
Age 30, sum insured THB 300,000
- Un Jai 2: THB 1,800 per year (an average of THB 150 per month, from 1,800 ÷ 12)
- Khrop Khlum 2: THB 1,900 per year, THB 100 per year more
Suppose a cancer other than skin cancer is diagnosed, with 10 days in hospital and chemotherapy treatment
| Item | Un Jai 2 | Khrop Khlum 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Lump sum on diagnosis | 300,000 | 300,000 |
| Extra payment for chemotherapy | – | 15,000 |
| Hospital stay compensation, 10 days × 1,500 | – | 15,000 |
| Second diagnosis (actual cost) | – | Up to 15,000 |
| Maximum total | THB 300,000 | Up to THB 345,000 |
This is a hypothetical example to give you a picture. What is actually paid depends on the diagnosis and the insurer's assessment. A simple rule: if the budgets differ by only tens to hundreds of baht per year, compare the extra benefits before choosing the cheaper group.

- People who have ever been diagnosed with cancer: even if they have been successfully treated, they are not covered and do not meet the underwriting conditions

- 90-day waiting period: if symptoms appear or a cancer-related abnormality is found within the first 90 days after the policy first takes effect, it is not covered
- Skin cancer pays only 20% of the main sum insured: for example, with a sum insured of THB 300,000, skin cancer pays THB 60,000
- The Un Jai group pays the lump sum only: there is no extra payment for chemotherapy, no income compensation and no second diagnosis benefit
- The combined sum insured is capped at THB 1,500,000 per person, counting all cancer policies
- Renewal premiums after age 54 are not stated in the sales brochure: you can renew up to age 70, so ask to see the renewal rates before planning for the long term
- Cancers related to HIV/AIDS are not covered, nor are those resulting from narcotic drugs, chronic alcoholism or complications of cosmetic surgery
- You must fill in the application form fully and truthfully: although no medical examination is needed, the insurer decides based on the information in the form

Frequently asked questions
How is lump-sum cancer insurance different from health insurance?
Health insurance pays according to your treatment bills, while this plan pays an amount based on the sum insured you chose when cancer is diagnosed. That is why many people have both.
Do I need a medical check-up before applying?
No medical examination is needed, but you must fill in the application form and answer the health questions fully and truthfully. The policy takes effect once the insurer approves it.
Can I buy it for my 3-year-old child?
Yes. This plan accepts people from age 1, and premiums in the 1–39 age band start from THB 1,200 per year. The child must be of Thai nationality and in good health.
I already have this policy. Can I increase the sum insured later?
You can buy more, as long as the total cancer sum insured across all policies does not exceed THB 1,500,000 and you pass the insurer's assessment. The new policy starts its own 90-day waiting period.
Who approves underwriting and claims?
