Classic Care lump-sum cancer insurance, from THB 920 per year
Premium data as of 12 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com
Underwritten by Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 920–24,510 per year depending on entry age and plan, incl. stamp duty and tax
Key feature: a first diagnosis of cancer at any stage pays the sum insured of THB 200,000–1,000,000, and the premium is fixed and does not rise with age
A colleague your own age is diagnosed with early-stage cancer. Treatment costs aren't the only burden: months off work and lost income, while the mortgage and car payments still fall due every month.
If you want a lump sum in place in advance, how far can cancer insurance costing a few hundred baht a year go, and what are the conditions?
Classic Care cancer insurance: who is it for and how much does it cost?
In short: Bangkok Insurance's Classic Care cancer insurance suits healthy people aged 1–60 who want a lump sum when cancer is first diagnosed, at any stage. It pays the sum insured of THB 200,000–1,000,000 (skin cancer pays 20% of the main sum insured). Premiums start from THB 920 per year for ages 1–34 on Plan 1 (as of 12 October 2026). The actual premium depends on your entry age and the sum insured you choose.
What does Classic Care cancer insurance cover?
| Coverage | Plan 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (THB) | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer diagnosed for the first time, all types and all stages (except skin cancer) | 200,000 / 500,000 / 700,000 / 1,000,000 | Diagnosed at least 90 days after the start of cover |
| Skin cancer | 40,000 / 100,000 / 140,000 / 200,000 | If skin cancer is diagnosed, only this benefit is paid |
The insurer pays the benefit at the sum insured shown in the table, on medical evidence confirming the first diagnosis of cancer.
Classic Care cancer insurance: roughly how much is the premium?
Annual premium incl. stamp duty and tax. Data as of 12 October 2026
| Entry age | Plan 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (THB) |
|---|---|
| 1–34 years | 920 / 2,290 / 3,210 / 4,580 |
| 35–44 years | 1,850 / 4,630 / 6,470 / 9,250 |
| 45–54 years | 3,370 / 8,420 / 11,790 / 16,840 |
| 55–60 years | 4,900 / 12,260 / 17,160 / 24,510 |
| 61–65 years (renewal only) | Entry-age premium applies |
Every figure is a starting premium. The premium is based on your age when cover starts and stays fixed; it does not rise with age. The actual premium depends on your entry age, the plan and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.
Worked example: how much difference does applying at 30 or at 40 make?
Say you choose Plan 2 with a sum insured of THB 500,000
- Applying at 30: premium THB 2,290 per year, about THB 191 a month on average (2,290 ÷ 12)
- Applying at 40: premium THB 4,630 per year, about THB 386 a month on average (4,630 ÷ 12)
- If cancer is first diagnosed after the 90 days, you receive THB 500,000; if it is skin cancer, you receive THB 100,000
This example is for illustration only. The amount actually paid depends on the insurer's claim assessment. The rule of thumb: the premium is locked to your age on the start date, so applying earlier means paying less each year for the life of the policy.
Who is Classic Care cancer insurance for?
- Healthy people aged 1–60 who want a lump sum for both treatment costs and living expenses while off work
- Working people who already have health insurance or medical benefits but want a reserve set aside just for cancer
- People on a limited budget who want cancer cover at a predictable annual premium
- Parents who want to insure their children, since cover is available from age 1 and the premium is locked at the entry age
Who should not buy this plan yet?
- Over 60. This plan accepts applicants aged 1–60 and can be renewed up to age 65
- People who have had, or been diagnosed with, a condition named in the terms, such as hepatitis B and C, AIDS, chronic pneumonitis, cirrhosis, hepatitis, chronic colitis, or chronic cervicitis or vaginitis
- People who smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day
- People whose father, mother, brother or sister has been diagnosed with a hereditary cancer
- People who want separate payments for surgery and chemotherapy. This plan pays only a lump sum based on the sum insured. See cancer insurance with separate surgery and chemotherapy benefits
Limits to check before you decide
- 90-day waiting period: cancer must be first diagnosed at least 90 days after the start of cover
- Skin cancer pays only 20% of the main sum insured, and if skin cancer is diagnosed, only this benefit is paid. The exception is malignant melanoma at stage 2 or above, which does not count as skin cancer under this benefit.
- Cancer treatment by hormone therapy is not covered
- Total sum insured across all policies is capped at THB 1,500,000 per person. If you already have cancer insurance, it counts towards this cap
- Your health declaration affects payment: no medical check-up is needed, but you must fill in the application truthfully. What you declare is a factor in the underwriting decision and in payment under the contract.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a medical check-up before applying?
No medical check-up is needed. Fill in the application form truthfully; cover starts once the insurer approves it.
If cancer is found at an early stage, do I get the full sum insured?
Yes, you get the plan's sum insured, because it covers first-diagnosed cancer at any stage. The exception is skin cancer, which is paid up to the limit in item 2.
Will the premium go up as I get older?
No, it does not rise with age. The premium is based on your age when the policy starts and stays fixed. If you renew between ages 61 and 65, the entry-age premium still applies.
Can I buy several plans together?
The total sum insured across all policies must not exceed THB 1,500,000 per person. Send us details of the insurance you already have and our team will help add it up.
How is Classic Care different from Bangkok Insurance's other cancer plans?
Classic Care pays a lump sum based on the sum insured when cancer is diagnosed, so its premium is lower. Superior Care cancer insurance adds surgery and chemotherapy costs and extra money for gender-specific cancers, so its premium is higher.
Who approves claims: Prakanthai.com or Bangkok Insurance?
