Super Save cancer insurance for THB 500: who is it for and how much does it cover?
In short: Bangkok Insurance's Super Save cancer insurance suits Thai nationals from birth to age 54 who want to start with cancer cover on a budget of a few hundred baht. It pays a lump sum when cancer of any type and at any stage, except skin cancer, is first diagnosed: THB 100,000 for ages from birth to 34 and THB 50,000 for ages 35–54, plus a chemotherapy or radiotherapy benefit of THB 10,000–20,000. Premiums start from THB 500 per year (as at 15 October 2026). There is a 90-day waiting period.
What does Super Save cancer insurance cover?
| Age at application | First cancer diagnosis / chemotherapy or radiotherapy | Annual premium |
|---|---|---|
| Birth–34 years | THB 100,000 / 20,000 | THB 500 |
| 35–44 years | THB 50,000 / 10,000 | THB 500 |
| 45–54 years | THB 50,000 / 10,000 | THB 900 |
The lump sum on a first cancer diagnosis is paid according to the sum insured for the age band at application. The chemotherapy or radiotherapy benefit is a fixed amount, not payment of treatment costs against receipts. When age is calculated, any extra days or months are rounded up to a full year.
How much is the premium for Super Save cancer insurance?
The premium is from THB 500 per year for ages from birth to 44 and THB 900 per year for ages 45–54, including stamp duty and VAT (as at 15 October 2026). The premium is set by age at the start of cover and stays fixed through continuous renewals, under the insurer's rules. Acceptance depends on the health declaration and the insurer's decision.
Worked example: how much difference does applying at 30 or at 36 make?
- Applying at age 30 for a premium of THB 500: if cancer is first diagnosed and you are treated with chemotherapy, you receive 100,000 + 20,000 = THB 120,000
- Applying at age 36 for the same THB 500 premium, you receive 50,000 + 10,000 = THB 60,000
- Premium per month: 500 ÷ 12 = about THB 42
This example is for illustration only and assumes every condition is met. The amount actually paid depends on the insurer's claim assessment. The rule of thumb: if you are under 35, applying earlier gets you a sum insured twice as high for the same premium.
