Cancer insurance covering surgery and chemotherapy, from THB 1,260

Premium data as of 12 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com

Underwritten by Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 1,260–29,090 per year, depending on entry age and plan, including stamp duty and tax
Highlights: besides a lump sum when cancer is diagnosed, it also pays towards surgery and chemotherapy or radiotherapy, plus an extra benefit for gender-specific cancers

An older relative is diagnosed with colon cancer. The doctor schedules surgery first, followed by several rounds of chemotherapy. The first lump sum goes on the surgery, and the money for chemotherapy has to be found elsewhere.

If you want cancer insurance that pays separately for each stage of treatment, what should you look at, and how does the premium compare with a lump-sum-only plan?

Superior Care cancer insurance: who is it for and how much does it cost?

Short answer: Bangkok Insurance's Superior Care cancer insurance suits people aged 1–60 in normal health who want both a lump sum of THB 200,000–1,000,000 when cancer is first diagnosed and extra money for surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, and gender-specific cancers. Premiums from THB 1,260 per year for ages 1–34 on Plan 1 (data as at 12 October 2026). The actual premium depends on your entry age and the plan you choose.

Roughly how much is the Superior Care cancer insurance premium?

Annual premium incl. stamp duty and tax. Data as of 12 October 2026

Entry agePlan 1 / 2 / 3 (THB)
1–34 years1,260 / 2,830 / 5,440
35–44 years2,530 / 5,700 / 10,980
45–54 years4,610 / 10,370 / 19,990
55–60 years6,700 / 15,100 / 29,090
61–65 years (renewal only)Entry-age premium applies

Every figure is a starting premium. The premium is based on your age when cover starts and stays fixed; it does not rise with age. The actual premium depends on your entry age, the plan and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.

Worked example: if you are diagnosed with colon cancer, how much do you receive in total?

Say a man applies at age 40 for Plan 2 at a premium of THB 5,700 per year (about THB 475 a month on average = 5,700 ÷ 12). The following year he is diagnosed with colon cancer, has surgery, then chemotherapy, and gets a second diagnosis within 30 days.

  • First cancer diagnosis: THB 500,000
  • Gender-specific cancer extra (colon cancer in men): THB 50,000
  • Surgery: THB 100,000
  • Chemotherapy: THB 50,000
  • Second diagnosis: THB 10,000
  • Total: 500,000 + 50,000 + 100,000 + 50,000 + 10,000 = THB 710,000

This example is for illustration only and assumes every condition is met. The amount actually paid depends on the insurer's claim assessment. A simple rule: the main sum insured is the big lump sum, and the rest are extra payments for the treatment steps that actually take place.

Who is Superior Care cancer insurance for?

  • People aged 1–60 in normal health who want more than a single lump sum if they get cancer
  • People whose existing health insurance does not cover chemotherapy and radiotherapy, or covers very little of them
  • People worried about cancers common to their gender, such as prostate, colon, breast or cervical cancer
  • People who want a premium that stays the same at every renewal

Who should not buy this plan yet?

  • Over 60. This plan accepts applicants aged 1–60 and can be renewed up to age 65
  • People who have had, or been diagnosed with, a condition named in the terms, such as hepatitis B and C, AIDS, chronic pneumonitis, cirrhosis, hepatitis, chronic colitis, or chronic cervicitis or vaginitis
  • People who smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day, or whose parents or siblings have been diagnosed with a hereditary cancer
  • People who want just a single lump sum on a limited budget: a lump-sum-only plan has a lower premium; see Classic Care cancer insurance, premium from THB 920
  • People who expect hormone therapy to be their main treatment: this plan does not cover treatment with hormone therapy

Limits to check before you decide

  1. 90-day waiting period: cancer must be first diagnosed at least 90 days after the start of cover
  2. Skin cancer pays only 20% of the main sum insured, and if skin cancer is diagnosed, only this benefit is paid. The exception is malignant melanoma at stage 2 or above, which does not count as skin cancer under this benefit.
  3. Chemotherapy or radiotherapy pays THB 50,000 on every plan: Plan 3 has a higher main sum insured, but this benefit stays the same
  4. The second diagnosis must be made within 30 days of the date of the first diagnosis
  5. Total sum insured across all policies is capped at THB 1,500,000 per person. If you already have cancer insurance, it counts towards this cap
  6. Your health declaration affects payment: no medical check-up is needed, but you must fill in the application form truthfully

Want to know your own premium and the right plan? What do you need to send?

Send just 2 things

  1. Date of birth and gender of the person to be insured
  2. Cancer or health insurance you already have (if any)

Our team will send you a written quote within a business day, showing each plan's premium for your age, compared with a lump-sum-only plan, and checking that your total sum insured stays within the cap. If a plan is good value, we will tell you straight. If the conditions differ, we will explain the differences before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

I already have inpatient health insurance. Should I add cancer insurance?

First check whether your existing health insurance pays for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Some plans don't cover these categories, for example Bangkok Insurance inpatient health insurance, so cancer insurance can fill the gap.

If a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, does she get the extra gender-specific cancer benefit?

Yes. Breast cancer is on the list of gender-specific cancers for women, with an extra THB 20,000 / 50,000 / 100,000 depending on the plan, on top of the main sum insured.

What is a second diagnosis?

Seeing a doctor again to confirm the cancer diagnosis. This plan pays THB 10,000 if it is done within 30 days of the first diagnosis.

Will the premium go up as I get older?

No, not with age. The premium is based on your age when you start the policy and stays fixed. You can renew until age 65.

Do I need a medical check-up before applying?

No medical check-up is needed. Fill in the application form truthfully; cover starts once the insurer approves it.

Who approves claims: Prakanthai.com or Bangkok Insurance?

Underwriting and claim payments are decided by Bangkok Insurance. As the broker, Prakanthai.com helps coordinate and follows up for you.
