Tokio Marine Safety Insurance Class 2+ for older cars, from THB 6,200
Premium data as of 4 August 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com
Underwritten by Tokio Marine Safety Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 6,200–8,100 per year, depending on the sum insured and vehicle type
Highlights: accepts cars up to 20 years old, with no vehicle inspection in this campaign
Your car is more than ten years old, Class 1 insurers won't renew it or will only do so at a premium out of proportion to the car's value, and with Class 3 alone you worry you'd get nothing if the car were stolen or caught fire. Which should you choose?
Tokio Marine Safety Insurance's 2+ for older cars is another option for older vehicles, but there are conditions on vehicle type and modifications that you should check first.
Tokio Marine Safety Insurance 2+ for older cars: who is it for and how much does it cost?
In short: Tokio Marine Safety Insurance 2+ suits owners of privately used saloons, pickups or vans up to 20 years old who want more cover than Class 3. It covers the car in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party can be identified, plus theft and fire, with a sum insured of THB 50,000–300,000. Premiums start at THB 6,200 per year (sum insured THB 50,000, information as at 4 August 2026, incl. tax and stamp duty). The actual premium depends on the vehicle type, the model and the sum insured you choose.

Roughly how much is the Tokio Marine Safety Insurance 2+ premium?
Annual premium, incl. tax and stamp duty, excluding CMI, as at 4 August 2026. Rates apply until 31 December 2027 or until the insurer announces a change.
| Vehicle sum insured | Saloon (110) / Pickup (320) From (THB per year) | Van (210) From (THB per year) |
|---|---|---|
| THB 50,000 | 6,200 | 6,600 |
| THB 100,000 | 6,500 | 6,900 |
| THB 150,000 | 6,800 | 7,200 |
| THB 200,000 | 7,100 | 7,500 |
| THB 250,000 | 7,400 | 7,800 |
| THB 300,000 | 7,700 | 8,100 |
All figures are starting premiums. These rates apply to vehicle groups 3–5 as defined by the insurer and already include the no-claims discount, the dashcam discount and the app discount. The actual premium depends on the vehicle type, the model and the sum insured you choose. The amount you actually pay is the one shown on the quote.
CMI bought separately (incl. tax and stamp duty): saloon, code 110, THB 645.21 · van, code 210, THB 1,182.35 · pickup, code 320 (up to 3 tonnes), THB 967.28
A worked example to illustrate
Saloon with a THB 200,000 sum insured, bought together with CMI
7,100 + 645.21 = THB 7,745.21 per year
Is a higher sum insured worth it?
A simple rule: each extra THB 50,000 of sum insured adds THB 300 to the starting premium. For example, raising a saloon's sum insured from THB 100,000 to THB 200,000 raises the premium from THB 6,500 to THB 7,100, so you pay an extra THB 600 per year for a limit on the car that is THB 100,000 higher.
Who is Tokio Marine Safety Insurance 2+ for?

- Saloons, pickups or vans used privately or as company cars
- People who want theft and fire cover, which standard Class 3 doesn't have
- People who want insurance without booking a vehicle inspection

What limitations should you check before deciding?
- The other party must be identified. Damage to the car is covered only in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified. If you are hit and the other party drives off, the car is not covered.
- The sum insured must not exceed the car's value on the date the insurance is taken out. The highest sum insured in the table is THB 300,000. The insured pays any repair costs above the sum insured.
- Only vehicle groups 3–5 as defined by the insurer are accepted. Send us your car model first so we can check it is in an accepted group
- There is no separate limit for accessories. They are covered within the same sum insured as the car

Frequently asked questions
My car is 18 years old. Do I need to take it for an inspection first?
This campaign waives the vehicle inspection, as long as the car is no more than 20 years old and is in a vehicle group the insurer accepts.
Can I insure a company car my employer lets me use?
Yes. This plan accepts company cars, but if the car is registered to a juristic person, it does not meet this plan's conditions.
My car is old and I often drive long distances. What else should I look at?
If you are worried about the car rolling over or running off the road, compare Muang Thai Class 2+ rollover cover, which accepts cars up to 25 years old.
Can I renew CMI at the same time?
Yes. Mention it when you ask for a quote. If you want to check that the cover dates line up with your tax renewal first, read New CMI rules from 1 September 2026: match your cover dates to your vehicle tax
When will I get my policy after buying online?
