Premium data as of 15 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com
Underwritten by Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 2,090–5,390 per year, depending on the limit of cover, including stamp duty and tax
Highlights: liability insurance for when a customer or another person is injured, or property is damaged, in your shop. Choose a limit of THB 1–5 million
A customer walks into the shop and slips on a freshly mopped floor, breaking a wrist that needs surgery. The customer's family asks the shop to take responsibility for the treatment costs and lost income. The owner of a small shop has to pay it all out of their own pocket.
Third-party liability insurance for shops and offices, with premiums in the low thousands: what does it cover and which businesses can take it?
Third-party liability insurance (Public Liability): who is it for and how much is the premium?
In short: Bangkok Insurance's legal liability insurance for business premises suits shops, restaurants, offices, beauty salons, tutoring schools and clinics that have customers coming and going every day. It covers your legal liability when an accident on the premises injures someone else or damages their property, with a limit of THB 1,000,000–5,000,000, plus 5 categories of additional cover. Premiums start from THB 2,090 per year for a limit of THB 1 million (as at 15 October 2026). The actual premium depends on the plan you choose.
What does Public Liability insurance cover?
| Coverage | Limit | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Legal liability for death, bodily injury, illness or harm to the health of third parties | THB 1,000,000–5,000,000 | Accidents on the business premises |
| Legal liability for third-party property damage | Included in the same limit | Includes the liability of employees |
| Car park hazards | 10% of the limit | Per accident and for the year |
| Food and drink poisoning | 10% of the limit | Per accident and for the year |
| Tenant's liability for fire and explosion | 10% of the limit | Per accident and for the year |
| Hazards from signboards on the premises | 10% of the limit | Per accident and for the year |
| Injury from first aid given by the insured | 10% of the limit | Per accident and for the year |
How much is the premium for Public Liability insurance?
Annual premiums, including stamp duty and tax. Data as at 15 October 2026
| Plan | Limit of cover (THB) | Starting premium (THB per year) |
|---|---|---|
| Plan 1 | 1,000,000 | 2,090 |
| Plan 2 | 2,000,000 | 3,150 |
| Plan 3 | 3,000,000 | 4,090 |
| Plan 4 | 4,000,000 | 4,650 |
| Plan 5 | 5,000,000 | 5,390 |
Every figure is a starting premium. The actual premium depends on the plan, the type of business and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.
Worked example: a restaurant chooses Plan 2 and a customer gets food poisoning
- Plan 2 has a main limit of THB 2,000,000 and a premium of THB 3,150 per year, averaging 3,150 ÷ 12 = about THB 263 per month
- Food and drink poisoning is additional cover with a limit of 10% of the main limit: 2,000,000 × 10% = THB 200,000 per accident and for the year
- If you chose Plan 1, this limit would be 1,000,000 × 10% = THB 100,000
This example is for illustration only. The amount actually paid depends on legal liability and the insurer's claim assessment. The rule of thumb: every category of additional cover is calculated at 10% of the main limit, so a higher plan raises this limit too.
