Class 3 Chubb Eco insurance, no car age limit, from THB 1,800 per year

Premium data as of 12 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com

Underwritten by Chubb Samaggi Insurance Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 1,800 per year (saloon) and THB 2,700 per year (pickup), incl. tax and stamp duty
Highlight: Class 3 insurance with no car age limit that covers the other party, plus THB 10,000 travel compensation if your car is stolen or a total loss

A car more than twenty years old may only sell for a few tens of thousands of baht, so insuring the car itself isn't worth it. But if one day you hit a new car worth a million baht or more, the other party's repair bill could be many times what your own car is worth.

How far can Class 3 insurance with a premium in the low thousands of baht help with this, and what does it not cover?

Class 3 Chubb Eco insurance: who is it for, and how much is the premium?

In short: Chubb Samaggi Insurance's Class 3 Chubb 3 Eco insurance suits owners of older or low-value cars who want cover for damage they cause to the other party: third-party bodily injury and death, and third-party property up to THB 1,000,000. It does not cover your own car, and there is no car age limit. Premiums from THB 1,800 per year for a saloon and THB 2,700 per year for a pickup (as at 12 October 2026). The actual premium depends on the vehicle type and the insurer's assessment.

Roughly how much is the Class 3 Chubb Eco premium?

Annual premiums, including tax and stamp duty. Data as at 12 October 2026

Vehicle typeVehicle codeStarting premium (THB per year)
Saloon, up to 7 seats110 / 1201,800
Pickup, up to 4 tonnes3202,700

Every figure is a starting premium. The actual premium depends on the vehicle type and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.

Worked example: how much difference is there between Class 3 and 3+?

Suppose you drive an Asian-make saloon in the provinces and run into the back of another car. The other party's repairs cost THB 80,000 and your own car's repairs THB 40,000.

  • Class 3 Chubb Eco (premium THB 1,800, an average of THB 150 per month = 1,800 ÷ 12): pays THB 80,000 for the other party's repairs, while the THB 40,000 for your own car you pay yourself
  • 3+ Chubb Eco with a sum insured of THB 100,000 (premium THB 4,800): pays for both the other party's car and yours
  • Premium difference: 4,800 − 1,800 = THB 3,000 per year, against THB 40,000 of repairs to your own car in this case

This example is for illustration only. The amount actually paid depends on the insurer's claim assessment. The rule of thumb: if you can afford to pay for repairs to your own car each time, Class 3 saves money; if the car still has value and you want the insurance to repair it, 3+ is the better fit.

Who is Class 3 Chubb Eco insurance for?

  • Owners of older cars that are over the age limit of many 2+ or 3+ plans, because this plan has no car age limit
  • People who want cover for damage to the other party beyond what compulsory motor insurance (CMI) pays
  • Cars worth so little that insuring the car itself isn't worth it
  • Pickups up to 4 tonnes used privately

Who should not buy this plan yet?

  • People who want the insurance to repair their own car: this plan does not cover the car at all. See 3+ or 2+ Chubb Eco.
  • Cars used for hire or rental, such as driving for Grab or Bolt: see Class 3 RY.18 insurance for Grab/Bolt.
  • Supercar, racing, customised, lowered, lifted or modified cars, as well as cars fitted with sirens and cars used for Demo or Test drive
  • Six-wheel trucks, tow trucks, trailers and songthaews
  • People worried about theft or fire: this plan does not cover them.

Limits to check before you decide

  1. Your own car is not covered in any case: not for collision, theft or fire.
  2. The THB 10,000 travel compensation is paid only if the car is stolen or a total loss; it does not pay for the car itself.
  3. Third-party property is covered up to THB 1,000,000. If you hit an expensive car or damage several pieces of property, you pay anything above that yourself.
  4. Only codes 110, 120 and 320 are accepted, and only if the car is not used for hire or rental.
