Highlights: Class 1 insurance for owners aged 35–45, with no need to name drivers, for group 5 saloons aged 1–10 years
You buy a Yaris for the family to share, and you and your spouse take turns driving it. With a named-driver policy, you would have to worry about who was driving when an accident happened.

How much is the premium for Class 1 Motor Gen X insurance?
Annual premiums, including tax and stamp duty, excluding CMI, and including the CCTV camera discount. Data as at 15 October 2026
| Vehicle age | Sum insured (THB) | Starting premium (THB per year) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | 250,000–700,000 | 18,200 |
| 2–3 years | 200,000–650,000 | 16,500 |
| 4–5 years | 150,000–550,000 | 15,500 |
| 6–10 years | 150,000–450,000 | 14,200 |
Every figure is a starting premium. The sum insured depends on the car's value, and the actual premium depends on the car's age, the result of the vehicle inspection and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.
Worked example: born in 1987 and buying in 2026 – does the owner qualify?
- This plan counts age as the year of purchase − year of birth + 1
- 2026 − 1987 + 1 = 40 years, within the 35–45 range, so the owner qualifies
- If a Vios is 4 years old and the premium is THB 15,500 per year, that averages THB 15,500 ÷ 12 = about THB 1,292 per month
- If the owner was born in 1979: 2026 − 1979 + 1 = 48 years, which is over the 45-year limit, so the owner does not qualify for this plan
This example is for illustration only. Actual underwriting depends on the insurer's decision. The rule of thumb: the age that counts is the age of the insured person, not of the driver on the day of the accident.
