V-Motor Add On
Viriyah V-Motor Add On: up to THB 3,000 per incident in travel compensation while your car is being repaired
After a crash your car has to go into the garage. Your main car insurance may pay for the repairs under its conditions, but taxis, hired rides and other travel costs while you have no car can end up coming out of your own pocket.
V-Motor Add On from Viriyah Insurance is personal accident insurance for unnamed drivers and passengers, with a benefit that compensates your travel expenses while your car is being repaired, when the cause and the repair time meet the policy conditions.
Premium incl. tax from THB 500 per year
Travel compensation of THB 2,000 or 3,000 per incident
Compensation paid up to 5 times per policy year
Accident cover of THB 50,000 per person
Period of cover 1 year

When is travel compensation paid?
Travel compensation applies when your car is being repaired after a collision with a land vehicle and the repairs take more than 12 hours. The product information names the following cases:
The driver is not at fault
The driver is at fault
Both parties were negligent
It cannot be clearly proven which party is at fault
All four cases remain subject to the policy conditions and count together towards a maximum of 5 times per policy year. Travel compensation is paid to the insured.
What to understand clearly before you buy
V-Motor Add On is not insurance that pays out every time your car goes in for repair, and it is not a policy that pays for car repairs in place of your main car insurance.
Events such as breakdowns from wear and tear, maintenance, hitting a post or wall, flood, fire or theft of the car do not match the wording of the travel compensation cover, which requires a collision with a land vehicle. The insurer will assess each incident on its facts and the policy conditions.
Accident cover for people in the car
Both plans cover unnamed drivers and passengers for death, loss of limbs, loss of sight or total permanent disability caused by a car accident, at THB 50,000 per person, subject to the policy conditions.
In the event of death, the beneficiary is as named in the policy or the statutory heirs, as the case may be. Travel compensation is paid to the insured and is not split among the passengers.
This THB 50,000 limit is a benefit under the specified insuring agreement. It should not be read as general medical expenses cover, and the policy does not cover illness.
Who can apply for V-Motor Add On?
The main conditions to check before you apply are:
The applicant must be the owner or keeper of the car
A private-use car registered for up to 7 seats
The sales document states that the car must have compulsory motor insurance (CMI) and voluntary motor insurance, and the voluntary insurance can be with any insurer
Limited to 1 car per policy
Period of cover: 1 year
The insurer decides whether to accept you, using the criteria in force on the day you apply
For an electric car, a pickup or a vehicle with a specialised use, send the car details to our team to check first rather than going by the number of seats alone

The THB 500 or THB 750 plan: which should you choose?
Choose Plan 1 (THB 500 premium) when:
You want extra cover on a small budget
You have a spare car or some other ways to get around
You expect your travel costs per incident while the car is being repaired to be fairly low
Choose Plan 2 (THB 750 premium) when:
You use the car every day for work or errands
Have only one main car in the family
You regularly drive children, elderly relatives or other family members
You have no spare car and local travel costs are fairly high
The two plans differ by only THB 250 per year, but Plan 2 adds another THB 1,000 in travel compensation per qualifying incident. So if you depend on your car every day, Plan 2 is the better one to consider, while if you have a backup way to travel, you may choose Plan 1 to keep within budget.
This advice is a guide to help you decide. It is not a guarantee of acceptance or of any claim payment.
If something happens, which documents should you keep?
Report the accident to your main car insurer through its official channels
Keep the incident report receipt, the claim form or any document showing the details of the accident
Ask for the vehicle intake slip, the repair order and proof of the dates and times the car went in for repair and was finished
Have your V-Motor Add On policy schedule and the insured's identity documents ready
Contact Viriyah Insurance's claims centre or your policy handler to check the latest document list and submission channels
The insurer may ask for extra documents depending on the incident, so check the document list each time before you submit and keep proof that you sent them
Frequently asked questions about V-Motor Add On
Is V-Motor Add On a main car insurance policy?
No. V-Motor Add On is personal accident insurance with a benefit that compensates your travel costs while your car is being repaired, subject to conditions. It does not pay for car repairs in place of Class 1, 2+, 3+ or any other class of car insurance.
If you are at fault, can you still claim travel compensation?
The product information names cases where you are not at fault, at fault, both parties were negligent, or fault cannot be established. But the incident must still be a collision with a land vehicle, the repairs must take more than 12 hours, and the other policy conditions must be met.
Do you get THB 2,000 or 3,000 every time your car goes in for repair?
No. The incident must meet the conditions of the cover. The insurer will assess the facts and documents of each incident and pays up to 5 times per policy year.
If your main car insurance is with another insurer, can you buy V-Motor Add On?
The sales document states that the voluntary motor insurance can be with any insurer, but the applicant, the car and its use must still meet Viriyah Insurance's latest underwriting criteria.
Are passengers covered?
Passengers are among the unnamed people covered for accidents, in the number and on the conditions stated in the policy. Travel compensation is paid to the insured.
How long must the repairs take to qualify?
The product wording requires repairs of more than 12 hours, and the insurer will assess this from the repair documents and the facts of the incident.
Do you need a health check before applying?
Viriyah Insurance's information says no health check is needed, but the applicant must give accurate and complete information, and the insurer decides whether to accept the application.
