Premium data as of 15 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com

Underwritten by Tokio Marine Safety Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited
Premiums from THB 2,000–3,500 per year, depending on the vehicle type, including value added tax and stamp duty but not compulsory motor insurance (CMI)
Highlight: Class 3 insurance with personal accident and medical expenses cover of THB 100,000 per person

You drive to work every day on congested roads where cars often collide. Your own car is old and you don't worry about it much, but if you rear-end a new red-plate car, the other party's repair bill could be higher than the value of your whole car.

Tokio Marine Safety Insurance's Class 3 insurance starts at a premium of THB 2,000. What does it cover, which cars can have it, and what is not covered?

Tokio Marine Safety Insurance Class 3 insurance: who is it for, and how much is the premium?

In short: Tokio Marine Safety Insurance's Class 3 insurance suits privately used saloons, vans and pickups whose owners want cover for damage they cause to the other party. It covers third-party life up to THB 500,000 per person and third-party property up to THB 1,000,000, with personal accident and medical expenses of THB 100,000 per person. It does not cover your own car. Premiums start at THB 2,000 per year for a saloon (as of 15 October 2026, CMI not included). The actual premium depends on the vehicle type.

How much is the premium for Tokio Marine Safety Insurance Class 3 insurance?

Annual premiums, including value added tax and stamp duty, after deducting the good-record discount, the CCTV camera discount and the Application discount. CMI not included. Data as at 15 October 2026

Vehicle type (code)Class 3 starting premiumCMI premium incl. tax and duty
Saloon (110)2,000645.21
Pickup, load up to 3 tonnes (320)3,000967.28
Van (210)3,5001,182.35

Every figure is a starting premium. The actual premium depends on the vehicle type, the car model and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.

Worked example: a saloon on Class 3 together with CMI

  • Class 3 premium for a saloon THB 2,000 + CMI THB 645.21 = THB 2,645.21 per year
  • Average per month: 2,645.21 ÷ 12 = about THB 220
  • For a van: 3,500 + 1,182.35 = THB 4,682.35 per year
  • If you rear-end the other party, the repair bill for their car falls within the third-party property limit of THB 1,000,000, but you pay for repairs to your own car.

This example is for illustration only. The actual amount depends on your quote, and claim payments depend on the policy conditions.

Why does the personal accident limit of THB 100,000 matter?

This part looks after the people in your own car, both the driver and passengers. Some Class 3 plans give this limit as THB 50,000 per person. If you regularly use the car to carry your family, compare this figure too, not just the premium.

Who is Tokio Marine Safety Insurance Class 3 insurance for?

  • Car owners who can pay for their own repairs but want a limit to pay the other party
  • People who use the car to carry their family and want personal accident cover of THB 100,000 per person
  • Owners of private vans who want cover for the people in a 12-seat vehicle
  • EV owners looking for Class 3 insurance

Who should not buy this plan yet?

  • People who want their own car's repairs covered, or theft and fire cover: Class 3 does not cover the car itself. See 3+ Chubb Eco insurance for cars up to 25 years old instead.
  • Cars registered to a juristic person (a company), cars used for hire, and rental cars
  • Customised or modified cars, such as lowered or raised cars, or cars with engine tuning, fitted gauges, carbon Kevlar, stickers, colour wraps or glass coating
  • Sports cars and racing cars
  • Pickups with added commercial equipment such as leaf springs, crossbars, cargo cages, side rails, axles, steel wheels or cargo boxes

Limits to check before you decide

  1. Your own car is not covered: only third-party liability and cover under attached endorsements.
  2. Premiums do not include CMI, which must be added according to the vehicle type
  3. Cars with glass coating or stickers fall in the group that is not accepted, so describe the car's condition accurately before applying
  4. This rate is for privately used cars or company cars, and does not apply to cars registered to a juristic person
