A 5-year-old car that you still want repaired at the dealer, but the premium for Class 1 with dealer repair is so high that you have to think hard. Dropping down to Class 2+ makes you worry that the car would have to be repaired at an ordinary garage.
How much cover does Tokio Marine's Class 2+ dealer repair insurance give, how much does it cost, and which kinds of car cannot be insured?
Tokio Marine Class 2+ dealer repair insurance: who is it for and how much does it cost?
In short: Tokio Marine Safety Insurance's Class 2+ dealer repair insurance suits privately used cars up to 7 years old, in the group 3–5 models set by the insurer. Premiums from THB 9,500 per year at a sum insured of THB 100,000 (as at 15 October 2026). The actual premium depends on the sum insured and the car's model.

How much does Tokio Marine Class 2+ dealer repair insurance cost?
Annual premiums, including tax and duty, after deducting the good-record discount, the CCTV camera discount and the Application discount. Data as at 15 October 2026
| Sum insured (THB) | Starting premium (THB per year) | Vehicle inspection |
|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | 9,500 | No inspection needed |
| 200,000 | 10,500 | No inspection needed |
| 300,000 | 11,500 | No inspection needed |
| 400,000 | 12,500 | The insurer may ask for an inspection |
| 500,000 | 13,500 | The insurer may ask for an inspection |
The sum insured must not be higher than the car's value on the date of the policy. The actual premium depends on the sum insured, the car's model and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.
The CMI premium is shown separately in the product document, including tax and duty, as follows: saloon (code 110) THB 645.21, van (code 210) THB 1,182.35, and pickup with a load of no more than 3 tonnes (code 320) THB 967.28.
Worked example: a saloon with a market price of THB 350,000, insured for THB 300,000
- Sum insured THB 300,000, which does not exceed the car's price. 2+ premium = THB 11,500 per year
- If you take out CMI for the saloon at the same time: 11,500 + 645.21 = THB 12,145.21
- Average per month: 12,145.21 ÷ 12 = about THB 1,012
- If the whole car is stolen, the sum insured used is THB 300,000, not the market price of THB 350,000
This example is for illustration only. The actual amount depends on your quote, and claim payments depend on the policy conditions.
Who is Tokio Marine Class 2+ dealer repair insurance for?
- Owners of cars up to 7 years old who want a lower premium than Class 1 but still want a 2+ that specifies dealer repair
- People who mainly drive in the city and worry more about colliding with other cars than about hitting something on their own
- Owners of electric vehicles (EVs) in the group 3–5 models set by the insurer
- People who find it inconvenient to book a vehicle inspection and choose a sum insured of no more than THB 300,000
Who should not buy this plan yet?
- People who want cover when they crash on their own or cannot identify the other party: 2+ pays for the car only in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified
- Cars over 7 years old: this plan does not accept them. See 2+ Chubb Eco insurance for cars up to 25 years old instead
- Cars registered to a juristic person (a company), cars used for hire, and rental cars
- Customised or modified cars, such as lowered or raised cars, or cars fitted with carbon Kevlar, stickers or colour wraps, as well as sports cars and racing cars
- Cars fitted with commercial equipment, such as leaf springs, crossbars, cargo cages, side rails, axles, steel wheels or cargo boxes
Limits to check before you decide
- The car itself is covered only in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified. Hitting a post or a wall, or a scrape where the other party drives off, doesn't qualify
- Only vehicle groups 3–5 specified by the insurer are accepted, and the car must be up to 7 years old
- The sum insured must not exceed the car's value at the time of application
- Optional equipment and accessories are not covered if they were not fitted as standard by the manufacturer
- For sums insured of THB 400,000 and 500,000, the insurer reserves the right to inspect the car
- The insurer does not accept cars in the Refer Risk and Decline Risk groups: send your registration book to our team to check the model first

Frequently asked questions
If I reverse into a pillar in a car park, can I claim for the car?
Cover for the car under this plan applies only to a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified, so hitting a pillar does not meet this condition.
Can an EV be insured?
Yes. This premium rate can be used for electric vehicles (EV) if the model is in vehicle group 3–5 as defined by the insurer and the car is up to 7 years old.
Does the car have to be inspected?
Sum insured THB 100,000–300,000: no vehicle inspection in this campaign. Sum insured THB 400,000 and 500,000: the insurer reserves the right to inspect the car.
If I fit a dashcam or add alloy wheels, is that part covered?
Not covered. The insurer does not cover optional equipment and accessories that were not fitted as standard by the manufacturer. Cars with stickers or colour wraps fall in the group the insurer does not accept.
Can a car registered in a company's name be insured?
This premium rate does not apply to cars registered to a juristic person (a company). Company cars used privately under the insurer's conditions can be insured, though. Send us the registration book and our team will check first.
