Premium data as of 12 October 2026 · compiled by Prakanthai.com

Highlight: Class 2+ insurance with theft and fire cover for older cars up to 25 years old
Your saloon is more than ten years old and its market value is down to a few hundred thousand baht. Class 1 costs more than the car is worth, but with Class 3 alone you worry you'd get nothing if the car were stolen or caught fire.
What does Class 2+ insurance with premiums from around five thousand baht cover, and which cars can have it?
2+ Chubb Eco insurance: who is it for and how much is the premium?
In short: Chubb Samaggi Insurance's 2+ Chubb Eco Package suits owners of Asian-make cars up to 25 years old and worth no more than THB 2 million who want cover for their car in a collision with a vehicle where the other party can be identified, plus theft and fire, up to a sum insured of THB 100,000 or 200,000. Premiums start at THB 5,500 per year for a car used in other provinces with a sum insured of THB 100,000 (data as at 12 Oct 2026, excluding CMI). The actual premium depends on the sum insured and where the car is used.

Roughly how much is the premium for 2+ Chubb Eco insurance?
Annual premiums, including stamp duty, excluding CMI. Data as at 12 October 2026
| Sum insured | Bangkok and vicinity | Other provinces |
|---|---|---|
| THB 100,000 | 5,800 | 5,500 |
| THB 200,000 | 6,800 | 6,500 |
In this plan, Bangkok and vicinity means Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon. Every figure is a starting premium. The actual premium depends on the sum insured, where the car is used and the insurer's underwriting decision. The quote is what counts.
Worked example: should you choose a sum insured of THB 100,000 or 200,000?
Say you have a saloon in Nonthaburi with a market value of THB 350,000. You rear-end another car, and repairs to your own car cost THB 150,000.
- Sum insured THB 100,000 (premium THB 5,800): you get up to THB 100,000 and pay the remaining THB 50,000 yourself
- Sum insured THB 200,000 (premium THB 6,800): the THB 150,000 repair bill is within the limit
- The premium difference of 6,800 − 5,800 = THB 1,000 per year buys an extra THB 100,000 of cover, for collision, theft and fire alike
This example is for illustration only. The amount actually paid depends on the insurer's claim assessment. A simple rule: if your car is still worth more than THB 200,000, a sum insured of 200,000 means you won't have to pay much of the difference yourself.
Who is 2+ Chubb Eco insurance for?
- Owners of Asian-make cars up to 25 years old whose market value has dropped so far that Class 1 is no longer worth it
- People who want theft and fire cover, which Class 3+ insurance doesn't have
- Privately used saloons with up to 7 seats, or pickups up to 4 tonnes
- People who use their car in other provinces, where the premium is THB 300 lower than in Bangkok and vicinity
Who should not buy this plan yet?
- European-make cars: this plan accepts Asian makes only. See Chubb 2+ X-Treme 1, which accepts European cars
- Cars used for hire or rental, such as driving for Grab or Bolt: this plan accepts privately used cars only
- Customised, lowered, raised or modified cars, as well as cars fitted with sirens and cars used for Demo or Test drive
- Pickups fitted with a cage or an enclosed cargo box, or with reinforced leaf springs or axles
- People who want flood cover, or cover for damage with no other party involved: this plan covers the car itself only in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified
Limits to check before you decide
- The car itself is covered only in a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified. Hitting a post or a wall, or a scrape where the other party drives off, doesn't qualify
- The car must be worth no more than THB 2,000,000 and no less than the sum insured you choose
- Asian makes only: codes 110 and 120 (saloons with up to 7 seats) and 320 (pickups up to 4 tonnes)
- Special materials are not covered, such as refrigeration units, special paint, glass coating, Kevlar, stickers and custom paintwork
- Premiums exclude compulsory motor insurance (CMI). See the quote for the actual total

Frequently asked questions
How is 2+ Eco different from Chubb's 3+ Eco?
2+ adds theft and fire cover, while 3+ Eco covers neither. The sums insured are the same, and the 2+ premium is THB 500 higher
Can a 20-year-old car be insured?
Yes. This plan accepts cars up to 25 years old, as long as the car is an Asian make and has not been modified
Can I claim if I hit a dog or a post?
Under this plan, damage to the car must come from a collision with a land vehicle where the other party is identified, so hitting an animal or an object is not covered as damage to the car.
Can I get compulsory motor insurance (CMI) at the same time?
Yes. Mention it when you ask for a quote. Read more about cover dates in New CMI rules from 1 September 2026
If the car has a glass coating or stickers, are they covered?
No. This plan excludes special paint, glass coating, Kevlar, stickers and custom paintwork of any kind.
